A couple of places we have visited in California beg to be included in a tropical island travelogue because of the beauty of their coastlines and their natural diversity. San Francisco Bay is home to abundant marine life, and no trip to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions. These comical creatures are always there to amuse and delight. Monterrey Bay and Big Sur also have a rich variety of wildlife and Cannery Row is home to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. A day spent driving down the coast to Big Sur resulted in capturing many images of shore birds, sea otters and sea lions playing in the surf just offshore.
